Why Relying on Others Can Make You Insecure

This is for anyone who feels insecure and uneasy when they are alone, who constantly needs reassurance from others, who cannot function without approval, attention or emotional support. Recognizing your dependence on people or constant validation can be difficult, especially when it feels like these things provide comfort or stability. However, this reliance often creates a fragile foundation for your well-being. The more you depend on external sources, the more vulnerable you become to disappointment and emotional instability. It’s important to gradually shift your focus inward and build a sense of self-sufficiency. Start by reducing attachments and becoming more aware of what you truly need versus what you’ve grown used to. Strength develops when you learn to stand on your own, without needing constant reassurance or support. Drawing from my book Wisdom and Reflection, true stability comes from within, when you rely less on external factors, you reduce suffering and create a stronger, more resilient sense of self.
