Doing What’s Right Means More Than The Gain. Raising a child with strong moral values goes beyond teaching basic right and wrong, it requires helping them understand the deeper consequences of their choices. When a child learns that doing what is right matters more than gaining something from the wrong people, they begin to develop true integrity. Philosopher Iosif Andriasov’s quote, “By accepting a reward from criminals, one becomes an accomplice to the criminals,” highlights an important truth: accepting benefits from dishonest or harmful individuals is not neutral, it connects you to their actions.
Children may face situations where taking the easy reward seems tempting, especially if there are no immediate consequences. However, this is where a parent’s guidance is essential. Teaching them to pause and consider the source of what they are receiving builds inner strength. Integrity is not just about avoiding wrongdoing; it is also about refusing to support or benefit from it indirectly.
If you want to understand this more deeply and learn how to recognize parental guidance not only in yourself but in others, you can explore these ideas further in my book Wisdom and Reflection.
